Tu Yaa Main Movie Collection | Budget | OTT | Hit/Flop

Tu Yaa Main is a Hindi movie, released on 13 February 2026 starring Adarsh Gourav, Shanaya Kapoor, and Parul Gulati. Directed by Bejoy Nambiar and produced by Aanand L. Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions, the film is a survival thriller that serves as an official remake of the Thai film The Pool. The film started its box office journey on a sluggish note, overshadowed by the heavy-duty clash with Shahid Kapoor’s O Romeo.

Despite positive critical reception and a unique “creature feature” premise involving influencers trapped with a crocodile, the film struggled with a low screen count and an average opening day occupancy of just 7.16% across India. On Day 1, Tu Yaa Main earned approximately ₹0.55 crore net in the Indian market.

While the numbers are modest, they represent a step up for the lead actors’ solo theatrical footprints compared to their previous niche releases. The film’s performance was notably better in urban centers like Chennai and Mumbai, but it failed to ignite the mass circuits. Worldwide, the film’s total gross on opening day stood at ₹0.66 crore.

With today being Valentine’s Day, trade analysts are looking for a significant “youth jump,” as the film’s romantic survival theme and positive word-of-mouth (WOM) might lure in couples looking for something different from the standard gangster fare.

Our Review

Tu Yaa Main is an audacious survival thriller that manages to be both a social satire and a claustrophobic nightmare. Bejoy Nambiar, known for his stylish visuals, successfully blends the superficial world of “Miss Vanity” (Shanaya Kapoor) and “Aala Flowpara” (Adarsh Gourav) with the raw, primal terror of a predator. Adarsh Gourav is the soul of the film; his portrayal of a Mumbai rapper trying to “make it” is deeply rooted in authenticity.

Shanaya Kapoor delivers a surprisingly restrained and physically committed performance, proving her mettle in a genre that leaves no room for vanity. The second half, set entirely within a 20-foot drained pool, is an edge-of-the-seat experience that utilizes its “CGI crocodile” with enough clever lighting to keep the tension high. However, the film stutters in its tonal transition.

The first hour plays out like a breezy, modern-day romance with catchy rap tracks, making the sudden shift into a “creature feature” feel somewhat jarring for those not prepared for the gore. While the film is a remake of The Pool, Nambiar adds a layer of Gen-Z commentary regarding the obsession with “views” even in life-threatening situations.

When compared to typical Bollywood thrillers, Tu Yaa Main is a breath of fresh air, though it lacks the widespread emotional “connect” that films like Stree or Munjya used to balance their genre-bending narratives. It’s a film that respects the intelligence of its audience but might be “too niche” for the single-screen masses. The box office path for Tu Yaa Main is a steep uphill climb.

With a budget of ₹20 crore, it needs a miraculous 100% jump over the weekend to stay in the race. Currently, it is being crushed by the marketing juggernaut of O Romeo, which has claimed almost 70% of the premium showtimes.

However, the “must-watch” reviews from industry heavyweights and a strong social media buzz could potentially turn it into a sleeper hit in the long run, especially once it hits streaming platforms. For now, it remains a brave experiment that confirms Adarsh Gourav as one of the finest talents of his generation and marks a solid theatrical coming-of-age for Shanaya Kapoor.
