Nilave is an earnest exploration of modern-day loneliness and the desperate human need for connection. Director-actor Sowmith Poladi attempts to create a poetic, visually-driven narrative that focuses on the internal world of its protagonist, Arjun. The film succeeds in creating an atmospheric mood, aided significantly by Kalyan Nayak’s soulful musical score, which acts as the film’s narrative engine.

However, the screenplay often feels self-indulgent, with many scenes lingering too long on melancholy without driving the plot forward. While Sowmith shows promise as a performer, particularly in the dance sequences, his emotional range in high-stakes dramatic scenes feels somewhat limited. Technically, the film is a mixed bag.
