My Lord Movie Collection | Budget | OTT | Hit/Flop

My Lord is a Tamil socio-political legal drama, released on 13 February 2026, starring M. Sasikumar and Chaithra J. Achar (in her Tamil debut), with Guru Somasundaram and Asha Sarath in pivotal roles. Directed by the acclaimed Raju Murugan (Joker, Cuckoo), the film tells a harrowing yet satirical story of an ordinary couple, Muthusirpi and Suseela, who are wrongly declared dead on paper following a medical crisis.

Their struggle to reclaim their identities and lives leads them into a legal battle that exposes systemic corruption and an organ-trafficking conspiracy. The film opened with a restrained occupancy of 11.47% across Tamil Nadu, facing competition from the Valentine’s Day rush and other niche releases. On Day 1, My Lord earned approximately ₹0.35 crore net in India.

The film saw its highest traction during night shows, with occupancy reaching 15.27%. In urban centers like Chennai, the film benefited from positive critical reception and a strong “interested” count on ticket platforms, with a gross collection reaching ₹0.40 crore. While the opening numbers are modest for a Sasikumar starrer, the film’s “social satire” tag and Raju Murugan’s reputation are expected to drive word-of-mouth growth over the weekend.

Our Review

My Lord marks a triumphant return to form for director Raju Murugan, blending the sharp, stinging wit of Joker with a deeply grounded emotional core. The premise—being “dead on paper”—is handled with a perfect mix of absurdity and genuine terror. M. Sasikumar is at his most sincere here; his portrayal of Muthusirpi is understated and devoid of the usual “heroic” posturing, making his battle against the bureaucratic machinery feel all the more personal.

Chaithra J. Achar is the revelation of the film, delivering a performance of quiet dignity and incredible weight that anchors the movie’s first half. The technical crew elevates the film significantly. Nirav Shah’s cinematography captures the grit of Kovilpatti and the sterile coldness of the corridors of power with equal finesse.

Sean Roldan’s score is a standout, avoiding melodrama in favor of soulful, atmospheric compositions that breathe life into the silent moments of the leads. While the film shines in its satirical sequences—particularly those involving Guru Somasundaram’s eccentric journalist character—it does stumble slightly in the final act.

The courtroom scenes, while intended to be climactic, feel somewhat rushed and “filmy” compared to the gritty realism established earlier. Commercially, My Lord is a film that demands patience. It is not a typical “Friday-to-Sunday” blockbuster but a slow-burner that targets the sensibilities of an audience tired of formulaic action.

With an opening of ₹35 lakh, it has a steep climb to recover its budget, but the rave reviews for its performances and message suggest it will have strong “legs” in the coming weeks. For anyone looking for cinema that questions the status quo while keeping you emotionally engaged, My Lord is a powerful, must-watch verdict on modern society.
