Dream Girl 2026 Collection | Budget | Hit/Flop

Dream Girl is a Tamil movie, released on 13 February 2026 starring Jeeva Rajendran and Harisha Jestin. Directed by M.R. Bharathi and produced by M. Kaveri Manian, the film is a romantic comedy-drama with a whimsical touch. The story follows a young man who falls in love with an “angel” who appears only in his dreams, only to have his heart broken when he wakes up.

The film then tracks his journey into reality to find the woman who inspired his dreams. Released on a “Normal Week” alongside massive competition like O’ Romeo and Crime 101, it started its box office journey with a very small footprint, primarily playing in regional centers across Tamil Nadu with limited multiplex shows in Chennai. On its opening day, Dream Girl earned approximately ₹0.01 crore net in the Indian market.

The film saw very low occupancy, averaging around 4-6%, as it struggled to capture the audience’s attention during the Valentine’s Day rush dominated by big-star vehicles. Worldwide, the collection remained at ₹0.01 crore, with no reported international screenings. While the premise had potential for a sweet romantic outing, the lack of a known star cast resulted in a cold reception from the theater-going public.

Our Review

Dream Girl (2026) is a small-budget Tamil film that tries to weave a fairytale-like romance into a contemporary setting. The core concept—a man chasing the girl from his dreams—is classic romantic fodder that has been used in various iterations globally, but here it lacks the imaginative spark required to make the “dream sequences” stand out.

Jeeva Rajendran and Harisha Jestin are earnest in their roles, but their chemistry feels a bit stilted, likely due to a screenplay that relies more on slow-motion gazes than on meaningful dialogue. The film attempts to be a soulful musical, but the soundtrack fails to deliver a “hook” song that could have helped it go viral on social media.

Technically, the film is a modest production. Director M.R. Bharathi makes use of scenic locations to represent the “dream world,” but the transition between the dream and the gritty reality of the protagonist’s life is often jarringly executed. The cinematography by N. Solomon Boaz is functional but lacks the high-definition polish seen in modern Tamil rom-coms.

Compared to a major release like O’ Romeo, which arrived on the same day, Dream Girl feels like a telefilm that accidentally wandered into a theatrical release. It lacks the scale, the stakes, and the star power necessary to survive in the 2026 theatrical landscape, where even medium-budget films are struggling to pull audiences away from their streaming screens.

From a box office standpoint, the film has unfortunately been “dead on arrival.” With an opening day of just ₹1 lakh, there is virtually no path to commercial recovery in theaters. The film’s best hope is to find a second life on a streaming platform where its clean, UA-rated romantic narrative might appeal to a home-viewing audience looking for a simple, lighthearted story.

In a week filled with high-intensity crime thrillers and gritty dramas, this “dream” was unfortunately drowned out by the noise of reality.
