Our Review

Mylanji is a visual poem that occasionally forgets to be a compelling movie. Director Ajayan Bala creates a world of immense beauty in Lovedale, Ooty, aided by Chezhiyan’s breathtaking cinematography. Every frame looks like a postcard, and Ilaiyaraaja’s music provides a haunting, nostalgic backdrop that elevates the simple story.

Sriram Karthick is subtle and effective as the photographer Surya, while Krisha Kurup brings a fragile innocence to Charu. Their silent connection is the film’s strongest asset. However, the film’s “80s-style” pace and narrative choices have drawn criticism.
